Major Gifts Manager

Job Description

We are partnering with a non profit in Washington, DC in their search for a Development Operations Manager. This role will manage and grow a portfolio of 75-100 high-capacity donors (individuals, foundations, and corporations) capable of $25,000+ gifts. This is a highly external-facing role focused on building relationships, securing major gifts, and increasing long-term donor engagement.

Salary: $90,000-$110,000

This role requires in office presence in the Washington, DC headquarters.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage full lifecycle fundraising: prospecting, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship
  • Conduct ~150 donor interactions annually and complete 30+ gift solicitations
  • Develop and execute tailored engagement strategies aligned to organizational priorities
  • Build and maintain a strong prospect pipeline using moves management best practices
  • Partner with leadership, board members, and staff to advance major gift opportunities
  • Track donor activity, maintain CRM updates, and ensure timely gift acknowledgment
  • Represent the organization at events and serve as an ambassador for its mission

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • 5+ years of major gift fundraising experience
  • Strong knowledge of cultivation, stewardship, and planned giving vehicles
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills
  • Experience with fundraising CRMs and Microsoft Office
  • Self-starter with strong judgment, discretion, and problem-solving ability
  • Willingness to travel as needed
